Municipal Drinking Water

CLEAN WATER.  NO WASTE.®

APTwater’s HiPOx process offers extremely efficient and cost-effective treatment for color, taste and odor issues in municipal drinking water supplies.  Studies have shown that HiPOx treatment can offer total lifetime cost savings of 20% -90% versus competing activated carbon or other conventional process alternatives.  For color, taste & odor problems, HiPOx systems clearly deliver value from improved process efficiency, lower energy use, and the elimination of process waste.

While T&O problems can arise from any of a dozen or more compounds, they most often result from geosmin and 2-methylisoborneol (MIB).  Both compounds are produced by blue-green algae and are common in many surface water supplies which are also prone to significant color problems from natural tannic acids.  These problems are especially difficult for many facilities because conventional water treatment processes do little to destroy or remove these compounds to the low levels required.  Historically, T&O problems have been addressed within the treatment process using large quantities of activated carbon which requires frequent and costly replacement, regeneration, or waste disposal.

APTwater’s HiPOx Municipal systems offer extremely cost-effective destruction of color, odor, geosmin, MIB  to very low levels.   Moreover, HiPOx also provided over 6-log destruction of MS2 phage provided for disinfection credits needed to meet the Long Term 2 Enhanced Surface Water Treatment Rule (LT2ESWTR) while still controlling the formation of bromate.  With a compact footprint, low operating cost, and minimal no waste production, HiPOx systems have been shown to offer up to 44% lower CAPEX, and 23-94% lower lifetime OPEX than competing conventional processes.  For challenging color, taste & odor problems the HiPOx process offers the clear choice for Clean Water.  No Waste®.
