Douglas A. Liddie, Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer

Douglas A. Liddie is Applied Process Technology, Inc.’s (“Applied’s”) Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer and is responsible for the company’s commercial and financial operations. Mr. Liddie joined the Applied team in 2003 and brings over 20 years of experience as an environmental engineer, business leader and management consultant.
An entrepreneurial leader, Liddie is noted for his ability to build environmental engineering and service firms by identifying unmet market needs, assembling teams of highly skilled experts, launching focused sales and marketing strategies, and creating operating systems that are all targeted to deliver unique value to the customer.
Before joining Applied, Mr. Liddie founded Environmental Navigator, Inc., an environmental management consulting firm specializing in assisting industrial manufacturers with the design and deployment of “next generation” environmental management systems. He also served as President of The Gauntlett Group, LLC, an international environmental management and cost-accounting consulting firm with offices in the U.S. and France. At the Gauntlett Group, Liddie assisted a number of manufacturing companies in defining their true environmental costs and development of appropriate cost reduction initiatives.
During a 13-year career at EMCON, a publicly-held environmental engineering company headquartered in Silicon Valley, Liddie progressed from his position as an environmental engineer and regulatory analyst to eventually become the Vice President in charge of the company’s flagship San Jose office with a staff of over 150 engineers and environmental scientists. Here he managed a wide array of projects for companies in the high technology, manufacturing, petroleum, and solid waste industries—including soil and groundwater investigations, engineering feasibility studies, technical design projects, and operations and maintenance contracts. Liddie also managed large-scale corrective action programs for leaking underground storage tanks, federal Superfund projects and private-party clean-ups. Liddie’s industrial process experience includes waste characterization and minimization studies, permitting and installation of pre-treatment systems, and development of discharge monitoring programs to meet stringent regulatory requirements.
In addition to serving as a technical program leader at EMCON, Mr. Liddie served as the Chief Financial Officer of EMCON Associates, Inc. with annual revenues of $28 million and a staff of 240, as well as a member of the Board of Directors of Columbia Analytical Services.
An expert in environmental management, Liddie has been a featured speaker at many conferences including the HAZMAT West and HAZMACON conferences. Liddie has also published several articles and has provided expert interviews to publications including the National Association for Environmental Management Network News.
He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Engineering from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from Santa Clara University.
